This months alternative cabaret brought to you by mutantspace skills exchange is on Thursday 26th February and the last Thursday of every month from then on. The idea is simple. To bring artists, writers and film makers together to create a new form of live improv performance with a multitude of musicians
Mutant Cabaret is a sort of “curated” open mic. Artists are invited to contact us with their ideas by messaging us through this page. Each artist will have a maximum of 15 minutes to perform (but less is OK too) and there will be about 4 or 5 performers on a night.
Eat My Noise
David Duffy and Peter Power have been composing music together since 2002 in various line ups. However upon both completing a masters in composition in 2010 a new direction was taken, one that steered as far from the contemporary masters they had both just been awarded.
Eat My Noise began life as a straight up dance project. Soon both Peter and David's various influences came into play and their sound began to take shape. Have a listen and Enjoy!
David & Peter can also be found composing for Dance, Film, Theatre and Advertising with Eat My Noise Productions.
Rosalin Blue
Well known in Cork for her vibrant performance, Rosalin Blue sets poetry in motion. With words and voice she releases image and emotion into movement, as she speaks and slams about aspects of Society, Politics, Nature or Womanhood. Blue's poems rise from a spiritual responsibility for our planet and stand up for social and political issues. Some of her pieces are short and contemplative, some roll in a rhythmical flow. Combining music with her pieces has long been a dream for the spoken word performer. Blue creates a dance with voice and hands that is set to move you.
When asked, what brought her from native Germany to Ireland more than a decade ago, Blue smiles: "That was Literature and Love." Living in Carrigaline, Blue's poetic home in Cork is Ó Bhéal, and she has performed on various cultural occasions in different venues in the city. Making her way into the country, she also performed at various festivals, last not least the Electric Picnic, and partook in Dublin's LINGO Spoken Word Festival 2014. For the past five years she has been competing in the Munster Heat All Ireland Poetry Slams, coming fourth or third many times. This is her second time performing with the electronic sounds of Generic People, and she is looking forward to the experiment.

Helio Leon
I spent my childhood and teenage days obsessed with blood, fantasy films and comics. I was drawing my own and making short videos. Since a very early age, I wanted to run away, and avoid repetition. I started taking pictures when I was 14, wanting to document my life and my journey. I've lived a nomadic life since I was 18, in places such as Cuenca, Kansas City, Barcelona or Istanbul.
In 2010 I got involved with the queer and post-porn movement in Barcelona, experience that affected me deeply and my approach. In 2012 I moved back to Istanbul, where I found my own wounds and shadows intensely reflected in the city.
Nowadays I'm based in Cork, Ireland.
My pictures are about my secrets and my fears. I choose the ones that talk to my inner child.
I'm interested in the invisible, the untouchable world, and of course I'm also interested in telling stories of people, when they touch something personal, intimate to me.
I believe every situation is connected with the past and the future at the same time, this amazes me, how what we are living doesn't belong to the present as in our psyche something else is going on that comes from other situations and events. The patterns of our actions, affected by our past and the past of our families. I believe cities are haunted, the same way that I'm haunted by the spirits of my ancestors and their actions
Thorn
Thorn has been painting live sine 2004 after a mind-blowing awarenessss that less than 2% of the general Irish Midlands populace had ever seen an artist actually painting! She decided to change this rather tough ratio (for a visual artist) and has taken every opportunity since to do it… publicly!
Through collaborations with Fox E, The Marley Bob, Dem Fools & Earthship among many other great bands and musicians, Thorn jumped at this exciting opportunity to work with Generic People.
Each musician or bands impart their qualities onto the canvas.
Thorn sees this way of working as an opportunity to expand each moment, through movement, colour, strokes and rhythm; she becomes intensely aware of the vibrations to bring it into the visual. She likens it to 'empathic jamming'.
Painting and music unite! for a whole 15 minutes, jamming with visual impact.
Thomas Spencer
Harmonica player.
