Koko Tanjah hails from Africa - born in Congo, Kinshasa (which he left with his family when he was 13) he grew up between Benin, Togo, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and finally settled 2001 in Bamako, Mali, probably the most diverse capital in Africa in terms of music! KoKo was exposed at an early age to the world of music with his father playing the guitar and his mother singing at traditional funerals whom he accompanied on the drums. At 12 he became 1st voice in the church choir back home in Kinshasa. A decade later he made his breakthrough on radio and TV in Mali with his songs "Polé Polé" and "N'Zambe Mokonzi". His talent was also recognised by producer Manjul who hired Koko on his label 'Humble Ark Records'. This explosive musical co-operation created the album 'Mwinda' which was released in Mali in 2009. On the eleven tracks you can indulge the diversity of KoKo TanJah. 2010 saw the production of a mini-album with musician friends from France and Mali. 4 tracks, 4 people - KoKo sings and plays guitar. Natty Vibes is the name of the band and they were on stage at the Festival-au-desert in Timbuctu. KoKo is presently touring in Ireland and is working on his next album.
