So back around 2005 Brian Ring and JusMe started this little night called “Broad Spectrum” in a little bar called “The Head Of The River”. It was a slow start.. I believe there were probably only about 5 people at the first couple. Thankfully those five people were lunatics who enjoyed dancing on tables and singing along to songs they didn’t know..
Jus and Brian stuck with it. There was a ridiculous poster, there were lock ins, there were more people, and more dancing on tables. It was fun.. They have fond memories of the time, they were (and still are) proud of what they did there. They talk about it like it was as big deal.. Whether anyone else remembers these nights is unclear.
In a sad attempt to relive their past glories they’ve decided to bring “Broad Spectrum” back for one night only this Valentines Day, Upstairs in the Roundy! Jus has agreed to dress up as cupid for the occasion (naked, fake wings, bow and arrow etc..)
Despite being fairly weird human beings JusMe and Brian are actually pretty good DJs.. After the Broad Spectrum days Brian went on to host the excellent “Its Music” nights in Bru Bar where he played along with top international acts such as Maurice Fulton, Linkwood and Daniel Wang.
Jus went on to help run the Hobo Convention nights and record fairs in several venues around the city including An Realt Dearg, The Pavilion, Gulp’d Cafe and the Raven. He runs DJ workshops, provides cuts for Spekulativ Fiktion and has warmed up for the Pharcyde, Grand Master Flash, Andy Smith and Immortal Technique.
